Netlabel Day started back in 2015 on each and every July 14th every year. This is a worldwide and internet as well as IRL event. You can reach the Day at http://netlabelday.com
Originally created by our fellow Manuel for the MIST netlabel from Chile, it is since 2022 managed by our dear Omar from the webzine The Seattle Star, which is quite aware of aims & interest of Free or Open Licences for cultural works!
Each years, July 14th, Midnight UTC+12, it starts, and it ends on July 14th, 11:59PM UTC-12, which means it's a 48 hours long Day if you allow me an accuracy of about one minute
The main thing:
Netlabels are releasing albums, for free download, on the very Day, with these simple rules:
Each album released on The Day MUST count at least ONE track that has never been released before
The full album MUST be placed under a Free or Open license, such as Creative Commons ones, which allow, minimally, to share, copy, pass around, and broadcast the music while it remains a fully non-commercial process, but this, is for the most restricitve license, and many other are lesser and lesser restrictive, and, depending on the choice of the artist, may allow as-is even more things for the listeners and re-users of the music!
And remember, you can always get in touch with the artist, via the label maybe, in order to request a waiving of any clause of the license, such as, as an example, an authorisation to use commercially the music (say, if you are a Youtuber looking for a background track...)
Celebration of free culture
Besides this, many things happen each year, before, during, and after the event. Here we may mention
Netlabel Day special podcasts
Radio shows, and especially, an event-wide temporary Netlabel Day Live temporary radio station for the duration of the Day happened to be set up
And for Crem Road's netlabel days so far...
Here we go with what we got each year since 2015, since Crem Road always has been onboard! Click on each year in the list to see our albums and other things for the year -be sure not to miss the 2022 Radio Show replay!
The Crem Road records' special radio show, which is a recorded show of a duration of 1h23m23s, english blah-blah summing up 25 years of existence of our collective, and 15 music tracks carefully selected...
Was on air for the Netlabel Day Live, a temporary radio stream set up for Netlabel Day 2022 from UTC+12 to UTC-12 (or almost).

**[ENGLISH] Hey! This is Nico, from Crem Road records, a French netlabel, and we are here to talk about our music and our artists. So, first off, I must confess that this 25 years of age for the label is not completely accurate, since we started effectively to have a web presence back in 1997, but the first track was published only in 1999 and we change our name over time and actually Crem Road is our name only since 2015. We have been c0c initially, then later ZC Virtual, then later again SLCNC Music, and finally Crem Road. We used to change our collective's name each time we have to move from one Internet host to another, and we are just a bunch of old pals publishing music online. Many people are members of several projects that are in our catalog, we have been all of us members of many bands that are in our catalogs, and people are coming from these bands, have solo careers, are starting new bands, are guests on other people's bands, are guests on one-man-bands, are ahead on stage for shows, and we are a small number of people but we got many releases available, and, the first track we are going to play in this show is a track from a one-man-band from a guy called Nain+, his project is called The Big Circus Project, and the track we are going is called Feel Good. He joined the label with his project two years ago and already published two full-length albums, the track we are going to play is coming from his second full-length, which is called Saturations, but actually he was a former member from Brainless On Line, which is another band we got, and about which we'll talk later in this show, but for now, let's listen to some music, with Feel Good, from The Big Circus Project.

**[ENGLISH] So then it was Feel Good, a track from The Big Circus Project, from their release Saturations, which is available on our website, and now we are going to play a song from another project which started in 2010 ; it's Me In The Bath, it's initially a one-man-band, but can be seen as a kind of club, with many people joining as guests on various studio albums and on stage. We are going to play firstly a song which is called Minuit Sur La Belle Province, it comes from the album Something Planned, and we have many Me In The Bath releases in Crem Road's catalog, since it's is by far the most productive project that we feature, but for now I think we can have a good introduction to the lofi noisepop style of the band with this very track, Minuit Sur La Belle Province, which talks about the fact that when in Europe it's six o'clock in the morning, it's midnight in Canada, especially in Quebec, "La belle province" as it's called, and it's time to go to bed, when it's midnight in Canada and in Europe it's six o'clock in the morning. So then let's listen to the track.
